I feel like my brain is melting out of my head lately, so here is a shitty photoshop. If my brain wasn’t melting out of my head it would be a better photoshop but it also wouldn’t exist because I would feel fine. Thank you. And sorry.
Unlicensed spinoff “Water and Power: Miami” debuted at number two this month, and has a very different feel from its predecessor. A different sort of silliness–where the title of the program becomes a repeated verbal gag, Reagan-on-counterfeit money as a visual laugh, the Weezer cover as an auditory source of amusement–reigns. The color scheme, reminiscent of “CSI: Miami,” is spot-on; the pacing competent; and the story arc, although understandably derivative of the “Water and Power” pilot, works. Still, I was expecting more from Mr. Park after the brilliance of “Dr. Miracles.” What? A little less cliche, a little more heart, and a few more dick jokes. B-
My submission to last weeks Movie Night. The theme was pet peeves in the form of a musical.
Best ever. Holy shit. Really, Jim does ask us to go wait in line for an hour and get brunch at trendy Silverlake breakfast nooks every single weekend, and we’re always busy or lazy. After this video, it’s gonna be real hard to say no the next time he asks, love it.
Moving on up this month, “Making Mistakes” part deux has some touching moments (with Demorge Brown sobbing convincingly), some amusing notes (such as the baseball bat sight gag), and a series of surprisingly meaningful, if jokey, adages (e.g. “love is about finding a mess and spending the rest of your life trying to clean it up”). Also, the “Winnie Cooper” actress is fetching, in an Elisabeth Moss sort of way. A-
I live in Silverlake California where I laugh every day and make videos for my mom, friends, and internet. This is where I post things I like, things I find, and things I think.
